MAX Digital is founded
MAX Digital was founded in Bulgaria in 2022 by Borislav Donchev and Martin Gochev. The agency started as a broader digital marketing company working across SEO, paid advertising, websites, conversion optimization, and digital strategy.
2023
June 2023: MAX Digital’s early service portfolio takes shape
By June 2023, MAX Digital was working across SEO, local SEO, conversion rate optimization, PPC, website and online store development, App Store Optimization, digital branding, and startup strategy.
SEO was already one of the agency’s core disciplines, alongside performance marketing and technical web services.
November 2023: Borislav Donchev leads MAX Digital as CEO
By November 2023, Borislav Donchev was serving as CEO and Head of SEO at MAX Digital, while co-founder Martin Gochev was identified as the company’s former CEO.
This period marked an increasingly strong connection between the agency’s leadership and its SEO practice.
2024
October 2024: Borislav Donchev joins the Website of the Year jury
Borislav Donchev joined the programming jury of Bulgaria’s Website of the Year 2024 competition.
The role expanded MAX Digital’s involvement in the Bulgarian web industry beyond client work and into the evaluation and development of web projects.
October 2024: MAX Digital becomes a member of BESCO
MAX Digital became a full member of BESCO, the Bulgarian Entrepreneurial Association, in 2024.
BESCO connects Bulgarian businesses, startups, investors, entrepreneurs, institutions, and other organizations involved in the country’s business and innovation ecosystem.
2025
February 11, 2025: MAX Digital participates in youth marketing education
Borislav Donchev represented MAX Digital at a Youth Council Bulgaria training program for high school students in Sofia, where he led the digital marketing part of a module on marketing and sales.
The session covered digital marketing careers, SEO, paid advertising, audience research, digital channels, and practical ways for students to enter the industry.
February 25, 2025: MAX Digital presents SEO for AI at SoftUni Digital
Borislav Donchev presented SEO 4 AI at SoftUni Digital, focusing on how artificial intelligence was changing search and what those changes meant for SEO.
The seminar covered AI-driven search, optimization for emerging search experiences, measurement, and the relationship between traditional SEO and AI-based discovery.
2025: Borislav Donchev joins the Innovation Station jury
Borislav Donchev represented MAX Digital as a jury member at Innovation Station 2025, organized by Better Community Club at the American University in Bulgaria.
The competition brought together young participants developing solutions to social challenges, with projects evaluated for innovation, practicality, and social impact.
October 16–17, 2025: MAX Digital participates in the AI vs SEO discussion at Digital4Plovdiv
Borislav Donchev participated in the “AI vs SEO: The Battle for Future Traffic” panel at Digital4Plovdiv 2025.
The discussion covered AI-generated search results, zero-click behavior, brand authority, visibility inside AI-generated answers, and the growing overlap between SEO and AI search optimization.
2026
July 7, 2026: Reviewly is integrated into MAX Digital
MAX Digital discontinued Reviewly as a standalone website and brand while retaining its strategy, products, and reputation-management methodology as part of the agency’s services.
The change consolidated the project into MAX Digital rather than continuing to operate it as a separate business.
August 21, 2026: MAX Digital becomes Back2Rank
In 2026, MAX Digital was rebranded as Back2Rank.
The new brand narrowed the agency’s positioning around the work that had become increasingly important to its expertise: SEO recovery, algorithmic and manual penalties, damaged migrations, hacked websites, complex technical SEO, and search visibility in an AI-driven environment.
Back2Rank continues the work, experience, client history, and expertise developed during the MAX Digital years under a brand built specifically around crisis and recovery SEO.
MAX Digital is the former name of Back2Rank.
